Package: cups
Version: 1.5.2-8
Followup-For: Bug #662999

Dear Maintainer,

using Debian Testing for nearly 1 year, there were no big problems -
until last week. Suddenly the printer "Brother HL-5240" cannot be
used any more. At first sight everything seems to be okay, the printer
icon ist to be seen, but "lpstat -t" tells me, that there is nothing.

When the printer is in a good mood, it gives out an empty piece of
paper, otherwise ist does nothing. The printer and the computer are
okay, I tested it with an old live-cd and lpstat gives infos like
"parallel:/dev/lp0".

Because I de-/installed a lot of software in the last time, I thought I
made a mistake and it was my fault. But after a new installation with
"debian-testing-amd64-netinst" (14.3.2012) with KDE, the problem
remains.

In my opinion it could be the same problem as told in Bug #662999.

The cups unstable-version 1.5.2-8 didn't get it to work.

Well, thanks for your work or for trying to solve problems like that!
