I see more and more of what you've been talking about regarding SASL and
Cyrus IMAPd. It's not a pretty sight at all. Better close my eyes while
I untar this...

I agree that some quite active maintainers are needed. However, the
current situation is not sustainable either. Maybe I'll decide to give
it up once I start digging in for real, but I think even with a little
effort, the current status could be improved.

I've contacted Dima but so far received no reply. I'll get back in a
couple of weeks or so, depending on what my schedule will look like.
