I've been running cyrus 2.2 on my personal server with no problems for a
while now (since before I joined the team).
I think that if we have the package in etch, we might as well offer it
to people on backports.org. It's not like we're replacing 2.1, they are
given an option, and we might as well give them as many options as
possible. Since it's in etch anyway, I don't see why this should be a
blocker for backports.org
