The decision was to make a backport available. However, noone did make
an upload yet (I can't and our svn sarge branch is up to date with our
main development branch, i.e. more recent than even the version in
unstable/testing, so an upload to backports.org would require a new
upload to unstable, too). I hope Ondrej or Henrique find the time to do
these uploads relatively soon though.
If you are interested in a build of our current sarge branch, I made it
available for i386 and amd64 on

deb http://mail.incase.de/cyrus22 sarge main
deb-src http://mail.incase.de/cyrus22 sarge main

Alternatively, there is also an i386 backport version with idled(*)
enabled. It is in my local repository (contains other backports, too) at:
deb http://mail.incase.de/debian-incase sarge main
deb-src http://mail.incase.de/debian-incase sarge main

It most certainly is. I'm using cyrus-imapd-2.2 on my servers for
several months now without any indication of a problem.

* idled gives IDLE notifications as soon as new mail arrives in an IMAP
mailbox, not delayed for up to 1 minute like the version without idled
does tzhem - downside is you won't get IDLE notifications at all if
idled crashes. However, I'm running idled for about six weeks now and
idled didn't crash a single time.
