you are absolutely right. Installing resolvconf solves the problem for me.
Thanx for the hint.

So from my point of view, a fix is still desirable but not so urgent any more.

P.S. I used to install the absolute minimum of packages possible since the installation sits on a flash drive. But prices have come down so much in the last several years that this is no longer necessary.
