Version: 2.3-2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
I fell over this issue after having installed linux-image and
virtualbox from stretch-backports [1].
Gianfranco (one of the Debian maintainer of virtualbox) encouraged me
to write this bug-report.
   * What led up to the situation?
When installing...
# apt-get install -t stretch-backports virtualbox
...I see the following...
The following additional packages will be installed:
  dkms libgsoap10 libvncserver1 virtualbox-dkms virtualbox-qt
Suggested packages:
  python3-apport menu vde2 virtualbox-guest-additions-iso
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
Trying to install these suggested packages ends up in...
# LC_ALL=C apt install -t stretch-backports python3-apport menu vde2
virtualbox-guest-additions-iso -s
   * What was the outcome of this action?
E: Package 'python3-apport' has no installation candidate
E: Package 'virtualbox-guest-additions-iso' has no installation candidate
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
A suggested package should be installable via APT sources.list repositories.
Checking with apt-rdepends shows me...
# apt-rdepends -s Suggests virtualbox
virtualbox <--- stretch-backports/contrib
  Suggests: vde2
  Suggests: virtualbox-guest-additions-iso <--- XXX: n/a
dkms <--- stretch/main
  Suggests: menu
  Suggests: python3-apport <--- XXX: n/a
Gianfranco told me he dows not plan to backport
virtualbox-guest-additions-iso to stretch-backports.
python3-apport Package is only available in experimental.
Please, let me know if you need further informations.
Kind regards,
- Sedat -
