If you have good ideas for the upstream author then I don't see a
problem. The only thing to watch out for is overloading the author with
too many suggestions so that the bug you're actually interested in
doesn't get fixed. :)

I'd leave it there, it's helpful.

That might well be useful, although it could be made clear that it's
