Sorry for the delay. I haven't filed one. But I searched a bit through
bugzilla.gnome.org and came up with these 2:

Looks like this is RESOLVED by NOTABUG, which looks strange to me. I'm
sure I hadn't this behavior prior to evolution-2.8. If this is the right
behavior for caret mode, for what its good in the end?
