Package: evolution
Version: 2.4.2.1-1
Severity: important
tag: sid

Evolution 2.2.x, when configured as an IMAP client (using the IMAP4rev1
backend), always enumerated all of the mailboxes on the target IMAP
server at startup and added them to the account's folder listing when
the option 'Show only subscribed folders' was disabled. I consider this
'correct' behaviour.

The new Evolution 2.4.2.1-1 as now shipped in Unstable does _not_
enumerate *any* remote folders on the IMAP server (including INBOX!)
when this option is disabled. The only folders that are visible are the
standard Trash, Junk and Sent mailboxes.

The IMAP server in this case is Dovecot 1.0-alpha5 (as shipped in
Unstable), though I have also seen this bug on a WU-IMAPD server
(version unknown) -- so I suspect it to be a client-side, not a
server-side problem.

Workaround: enable the "Show only subscribed folders" option and
explicitly subscribe to all of the target folders. Repeat whenever new
folders are created on the server.

I have also observed this problem on an Ubuntu Breezy installation,
which also ships Evolution 2.4.x -- it does not appear to be
Debian-specific.

Please feel free to ask for more information if needed!

Cheers,
David
