Hi,
Oystein, Heikki, please welcome Bdale and Keith (bdale at d.o,
keithp at d.o), two hot DDs I've just added to pkg-evolution; I hope you
have a bottle of Champagne in the fridge and some flowers to throw at
them!
During an email exchange with Bdale (quoted below), two old problems
came up:
- our GNOME and Evo stacks are always out of date, we're not really
tracking "stable" releases
- I personally don't use Evolution, so I can not produce terribly good
uploads, as recent e-d-s experience shows
The out-of-dateness is partly due to the current release process, but I
also think we are a bit lacking man power from time to time as
packaging Evolution can be really time consuming.
I've added Bdale and Keith to the pkg-evolution Alioth project, and I
invite them to join the pkg-evolution-maintainers list. They are DDs,
hence have uploads rights, but are also very experienced DDs. On top
of this, they use Evolution's "corporate" features a _lot_, daily.
I've setup a new pkg-evolution-commits list to help everybody work
together, but you can also subscribe to the PTS for commits.
@Bdale + Keith: typical "svn-buildpackage" SVN tree, with one branch
per dist.
I've also introduced tags recently, please "svn-buildpackage
--svn-tag-only" after your final commit before upload.
I've uploaded and tagged the last GNOME 2.16 releases of evolution,
evolution-data-server, and evolution-exchange today. The current
status is that GNOME 2.18 is making its way in experimental,
gtkhtml3.14 was created as a separate source due to incompatible API
changes until gnucash is converted and uploaded to NEW. Evolution-*
remain to be prepared, but will probably need gtkhtml3.14. Riccardo
Setti (giskard at d.o) prepared diffs for Evo 2.10 and EDS 1.10, but
please take the time to proof read them from A to Z as I think the
changes are complex:
19:09 <@giskard> http://people.debian.org/~giskard/evolution_new_upstream.patch
19:09 <@giskard> http://people.debian.org/~giskard/eds_new_upstream.patch
In case you need gtkhtml3.14 binaries:
<http://people.dooz.org/~lool/debian/gtkhtml3.14/3.14.0-1/experimental-pbuilder/>
Please contact me or hop in #gnome-debian on GIMPNet (irc.gimp.org) if
you have any technical question or if you need to coordinate major
changes wit h the GNOME Team.
Bye,
