This is an SID/Experimental Evolution package bug D:
This is the cleanest description I can make:
me at mypc:~/Desktop$ evolution
evolution-shell-Message: Preparing for online mode...
evolution-shell-Message: Online preparations complete.
Then you go to menu --> Backup settings
The dialog appears:
"Are you sure you want to close Evolution?
Evolution backup can start only when Evolution is not running. Please make sure that you save and close all your unsaved windows before proceeding. If you want Evolution to restart automatically after backup, please enable the toggle button."
Then you click yes.
Evolution's main window closes.
The backup progressbar dialog appears.
Then in terminal:
** Message: evolution --force-shutdown
evolution-shell-Message: Preparing for online mode...
evolution-shell-Message: Online preparations complete.
evolution-shell-Message: Preparing to quit...
evolution-shell-Message: Quit preparations complete.
No response from Evolution -- killing the process
Terminated
me at mypc:~/Desktop$
NOTE:
it kills itself while it is making the backup =]
