Package: evolution
Version: 2.22.3.1-1
Severity: important
In July Google announced CalDAV support for the Google Calendar.
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99355
Here are the instructions for how to setup CalDav calendar using IceOwl
(Sunbird)
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#sunbird
Evolution has support for the CalDav too, so it SHOULD be possible to
use Google Calendar using Evolution too, but it does not worjk.
Steps to reproduce this problem:
1) create Google calendar account
2) Create new CalDav calendar in the Evolution, here is an example,
note
that Username for the Google calendar is full email-address:
Type: CalDav
Name: Google
URL: caldav://www.google.com/calendar/dav/foobar@gmail.com/events
Use SSL
Username: foobar at gmail.com
3) Close calendar properties window
4) Try to activate calendar, a password is asked
Calendar is not activated and you can't create any appointments etc to
that calendar. If you try to add an appointment then you get error
message because Evolution is not connected to Google Calendar.
5) Open calendars properties window again.
Now you should see that Evolution has removed @gmail.com from username
and URL is total mess.
Here is an example:
URL:
caldav://gmail.com@gmail.co@gmail.c@gmail.@gmail@gmailc@gmail@gmai@gma@gm@g@@gmail.com@www.google.com/calendar/dav/foobar@gmail.com/events
Username: foobar
As I said Username for the Google calendar is full email-address with
character @, The problem seems to be that Evolution does not allow @ in
the Username which makes it impossible to use Google calendar using
CalDav.
