Ok so that might be related to #620260
If you re-enable proxy stuff, could you tell us if it breaks again or
not? If it does, could you take some network traces using tcpdump?
Peter, could you check your proxy settings too?

Yeah, that's a good idea (I think the warning should be done directly in
the app but a NEWS.Debian is a good idea indeed).
