Hi,

After doing what you said, I had the same things with other messages. But when I thought then of a problem I had with orca (screen reader), I realised that you gave a solution. I am sure that it's an encoding problem or a character problem.

So here's what I do to make things work all right. Neither perfect, nor clean at all, but at least, it is a good workaround and it works.

1. Do: 

mv ~/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox.sbd ~/mail

2. Run evolution --offline. It should run but you'll see empty dirs, except sent.

3. Then, use the import wizard, choosing "All mails, contacts and calendar".
4. Your mail will be imported, with the subdirectories where they were in the inbox. 
5. If you had subdirectories, move them to the place where they wer (for instance, Inbox).
6. Then exit, and delete by hand the useless .index.data files.

Hope this process helps for emergency. If you want to do further tests I can help. Now I'm about migrating.
