Dear PyNIfTI users,
you have probably noticed that development of PyNIfTI has stalled. The
reason is simple: PyNIfTI has been replaced by NiBabel
http://nipy.sourceforge.net/nibabel
NiBabel has numerous advantages over PyNIfTI:
* it is pure Python -- no need to compile extensions anymore
* it support the NIfTI standard better than PyNIfTI
* it support more data formats: ANALYZE, NIfTI, MINC, PAR/REC, GIFTI
and there is initial DICOM support as well
* more than one developer is working on NiBabel
For all these reasons I strongly recommend you to switch to NiBabel.
The support mailing list for NiBabel can be reached at
nipy-devel at neuroimaging.scipy.org. Subscription and archive links can be
found on the NiBabel website. NiBabel is available as a NeuroDebian
package
http://neuro.debian.net/pkgs/python-nibabel.html
and from pypi:
http://pypi.python.org/pypi/nibabel
If there is anything that NiBabel cannot do for you, but was possible
with PyNIfTI -- please let us know (by posting to the above mailing
list).
Thanks for having used PyNIfTI and starting to use NiBabel,
Michael
