During these review, while the freeze is going on, *I* focus on the
debconf templates, but Justin likes to complete the work even if I'm
too lazy for this..:-)

So, yes, the control file is also part of the review.

As you mentioned you dropped the debconf template, I'll just stick
with debian/control review for this bug report.
