Package: fetchmail
Version: 5.9.11-6.2
Severity: wishlist

Just occasionally, mail seems to vanish. For example,

$ fetchmail
3 messages for markc at tara.aetion.com (5204 octets).
reading message markc at tara.aetion.com:1 of 3 (502 octets) fetchmail: retained
reading message markc at tara.aetion.com:2 of 3 (1647 octets) . flushed
reading message markc at tara.aetion.com:3 of 3 (3055 octets) .. flushed
$ fetchmail
1 message for markc at tara.aetion.com (502 octets).
reading message markc at tara.aetion.com:1 of 1 (502 octets) fetchmail: retained
$

yielded in /var/log/exim/ just one acceptance and delivery in the
mainlog, nothing in the paniclog or rejectlog, and only one message
appeared in my mailspool.

My .fetchmailrc is of the form,

poll tara.aetion.com
  protocol pop3
  username markc
  password <whatever>
  fetchall

My wish is for slightly better information out of fetchmail about the
occasional message that never seems to reach exim. Why did one of
messages 2 or 3 just seem to disappear? It should be more obvious.

Given that the reporter does not use fetchmail any more,
the maintainers cannot reproduce this problem,
I'm closing this bug.
