Package: fetchmail
Version: 6.2.5-12
Severity: normal

Fetchmail is ignoring the --logfile option. It is sending its messages
to standard output instead and not creating the requested logfile.

This is not a bug, but documented behavior. The man page reads:

| The -L <filename> or --logfile <filename> option (keyword: set logfile)
| allows you to redirect status messages emitted while detached into a
| ----------------
| specified logfile (follow the option with the logfile name). (...)

This means: you need to use daemon mode (-d 600 or set daemon 600 or similar)
and you MUST NOT use -N.

This works for me. Closing the bug.
