[pkg-fgfs-crew] unable to build simgear2.6.0-3

I've downloaded the source for simgear2.6.0-3:
- simgear_2.6.0-3.dsc
- simgear_2.6.0-3.debian.tar.gz
- simgear_2.6.0.orig.tar.gz

and unpacked with dpkg-source -x simgear_2.6.0-3.dsc

However the build with debuild -b -uc -us  fails with this error (no files in debian/tmp/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu):

My system runs the debian testing distribution and I have these related packages installed (as well as all build dependencies for flightgear-2.6.0 except
for simgear2.6.0):

    ii  simgear-dev                                                 2.4.0-1.3                       i386         
    ii  simgear2.4.0                                                2.4.0-1.3  

As there are already binaries for this in snapshot.debian.org and other packages have built correctly on this system, I'm not clear on
why my build environment would have failed for simgear2.6.0.  Any help to figure this out would be very welcome; please let me
know if any additional details or output from this build would be useful.
