Yes, that was the library package name up to 1.0.0-2:
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/simgear/1.0.0-2/#simgear0_1.0.0-2
Given that the obvious reason for this conflict (lib*.so.1.0.0) only
applied to simgear1.0.0, it probably should be removed.
Upstream are again talking about releasing 3.4.1, which will be another
soname bump due to
http://sourceforge.net/p/flightgear/simgear/ci/efbca9427485c4aa4a38591bfe44c1571cfd82f4/
(given that this library is mainly (in Debian, only) for their own
flightgear+fgrun, they have no reason to enforce ABI stability).
