Hmmm. yes. And I am I could put a warning not to do that in the package and
link against fbclient. Apt-cache showpkg says that php4-interbase is the
only package depending on libfirebird, so this shouldn't affect any other

I'll let the current version of php4-interbase enter sarge and prepare a new
one with warning as a second route to solve not being able to rebuild
php4-interbase in sarge (#268931). 

Right now I am waiting for bug #270820 to get resolved to get into a
releasable state and that is out of my hands.
