Hi,

I just installed the firebird- distribution (c64-server,
server-common, utils, c64-libs) and wasn't able to connect
to any database as a non-root user at all. Error message
was:

Statement failed, SQLCODE = -902

operating system directive open failed
-Permission denied

Consulting the knowledge base, I found out this error was
caused by too restrictive permissions on the lock files.
Actually, the default permissions on /var/run/firebird
(where the lockfiles appear to reside) turned out to be
770, owner:group of /var/run/firebird are firebird:firebird.

Changing the permissions to 775 solved the problem. I think
that should be the default.

Sincerely,
Roland Gersch

Permissions on /var/run/firebird2 are 0770, user:group ==
firebird:firebird, so there should be no problem for users members of
firebird group.

Making a directory 0777 is something that is neger going to happen in
firebird2 packages, sorry.

Best regards,
dam
