I agree. What i was thinking of wasn't an automatic upgrade-script. I  
think of some well-documented shellscript which could be placed  
in .../doc/firebird/examples. Or maybe a simple "daily backup"  
example for /etc/cron.daily. Something that does a backup from all  
(*.fdb) files from /var/lib/firebird2/data and /etc/firebird2/ 
aliases.conf to give the less experienced users a starting point.

The point is to have a backup in _transportable_ format when moving  
from 1.5 to 2.0, because the database file becomes useless when the  
ODS changes. So you have to do the backup while 1.5 is still  
installed. And an example script in etch could make it easier to  
actually _do_ the backup.

Don't get me wrong: this isn't meant to replace any documentation.  
It's just an enhancement.
