I can't find the patches themeslves at the above link. And it is not
clear to me under what license they are available.

Unless these patches (whereever they are) are applied upstream by
firebird developers, I have no plans of including them in the debian
packages. Debian packages for firebird provide what upstream firebird
developers provide (with minor debian-specific tweaks).

I am too busy right now and I already have firebird 2.0 packages in
the queue to even consider fyracle packaging.

Speaking of fyracle packaging, the most important part is the
licensing. As far as I see, there is "Fyracle development kit" that is
 being sold. Is this available for free (and under what license?)
