Hi, Daniel,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Good.

I didn't know they use PDL for the docs, thanks for the pointer.

PDL suffers from the same problems as MPL/IPL/IDPL - it is hard to
read and it enforces Californian law to anyone.

Not that I am against Californian law, but being governed by some law
I don't know and spending money to go there in case someone files
no-matter-how-serious claim, is something I personally would like to
avoid. In other words, MPL-derivate license makes it discouraging for
me to actually use the permission to modify etc the work.

Also, I don't see any problem with incorporating IDPL-licensed work
(firebird) with manpages licensing any of the above three licenses I
proposed. Perhaps LGPL is not the best license for a manpage, but I
have no strong feelings about it.

That said, I am by no means trying to convince you to choose a license
that I'd agree with. Choosing a license for someone's work is of
highly personal preference so I'll agree with whatever choice you make
(even "leave it GPL"). I can always sit down and spend several hours
for rewriting those manpages if I find that the disagreement by my
personal preferences and yours are so big. Of course, that would be a
waste of time, since I suspect that the end result will be not much
different.

Take care,
	dam
