I can't directly answer your question, but to help track the problem,
please increase LockMemSize as suggested. If there really is some
problem with the debian package, the problem will re-appear (after more
time, I guess).

As a random shot, what other services are running on the machine?

It is also interesting, go you have to restart the server *and*
backup/restore the database to bring it back on track? I mean, isn't
server restart not enough?
