[pkg-firebird-general] Building firebird on etch

Hi

Is there a "simple" way to build firebird2.0.1+x on etch?
I didn't find any repository, that had that firebird version with deb's for 
etch, so I decided to build my own.

I am fairly new to deb-builds. So far I only build a java with make-jpkg.
I am allso new to builds from source: So far only Kernels and Xen.

So is there anywhere a step-by-step instruction to build a newer package for 
etch?

(If anyone has a repository, which is trustable, I would also appreciate...)
