firebird1.5 never built on m68k so in my understanding this is not RC.

The problem is that upstream does not support m68k and these compiler
options are what is used on "unknown" architectures. Removing them will
simply make the build fail later on. Firebird1.5 supports only i386,
amd64, sparc and freebsd-* and upstream is not supporting new ports
for firebrid1.5[1]. This is why I tag this bug as wontfix and changing
the severity to wishlist.

I believe this is already done -- all the binary packages are already
flagged in debian/control either as 
  Architecture: i386 amd64 kfreebsd-i386 kfreebsd-amd64 sparc
or
  Architecture: all

As far as I see, from such input dpkg-source places Architecture: any
in the .dsc. Perhaps this is misleading the buildds?
