About iceweasel, try installing xul-ext-flashblock and/or
xul-ext-adblock-plus. The former will make you play just flash clips you
want to play, the latter blocks ads if any.
That should reduce cpu and memory usage when page loads.

It seems the same extensions exist for chromium as well, I never tried them.
