Details:

The bug is well detailed with test cases in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=376677

Indeed it appears that some glyphs have a width that is different from 600,
which causes a very weird spacing problem in some cases.

The attached patch, which is a bit crude, fixes it.

I'm wondering whether the "font not recognized as monospace in KDE" but I
already reported wouldn't be related to this one
