Hi,

It is already possible to change color of fontforge windows.
Put for example this line into ~/.Xdefaults:
Gdraw.Background: rgb(70%,70%,70%)

This should give gray color.

You may need to restart X or run "xrdb -merge ~/.Xdefaults" after
editing the file.
