For me, this started after a weekly dist-upgrade for security reasons.
I tried to open a saved game, and as soon as I try to open a city
dialog, I get a segfault.  Worked fine before the upgrade.  Wish I could
remember what packages were included.

Tried with various locales, multiple video drivers; no difference.
Downgrading to the freeciv-client-gtk package from stable (Etch?) fixes
the problem.  (Installed the xaw3d client to avoid updating server,
common, and data packages.)

Possibly related to #323078 as it also shows a sefault on strlen() in
libc6.  If so, I believe the charset.alias comes from glib; I've got
libglib2.0-0 and libglib1.2-dev installed.  Creating an empty /usr/lib/charset.alias has no effect.
