Sounds good.  Perhaps even better is:

stick status.txt in the directory svn svn.debian.org pkg-freedict/htdocs
I've just created.  If you scp it to
alioth.debian.org:/srv/alioth.debian.org/chroot/home/groups/pkg-freedict/htdocs/
after committing, it'll be visible for everybody on
http://pkg-freedict.alioth.debian.org/.
