OK, meanwhile I tried the following steps:
$ git clone
https://anonscm.debian.org/git/pkg-freeipmi/pkg-freeipmi.git
$ git branch upstream origin/upstream
$ DIST=trusty ARCH=amd64 git-buildpackage --git-builder='pdebuild
--debbuildopts -sa' --git-upstream-branch=upstream
--git-debian-branch=master

The following lintian errors appear:
* E: freeipmi changes: bad-distribution-in-changes-file unstable
* E: freeipmi-ipmiseld: init.d-script-does-not-implement-required-option
etc/init.d/ipmiseld start
* E: freeipmi-ipmiseld: init.d-script-does-not-implement-required-option
etc/init.d/ipmiseld stop
* E: freeipmi-ipmiseld: init.d-script-does-not-implement-required-option
etc/init.d/ipmiseld restart
* E: freeipmi-ipmiseld: init.d-script-does-not-implement-required-option
etc/init.d/ipmiseld force-reload

I think lintian errors can be easily fixed. Are there any problems
building a package this way for trusty?

THX, Georg
