Oops - I lost my reply and had to reconstruct it from the patch;
apologies if this misses some changes.

But "CRT" versus "HD" is specifically talking about the TV set,
isn't it? Unless by "most CRT television systems" it means Standard
Definition (there are plenty of SDTV LCD sets). I don't really
understand this, so I'll leave it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg - I've got:

Please choose the TV standard to use. NTSC is used in North America,
much of South America, and Japan; SECAM in France, the former USSR,
and parts of Africa and the Middle East; and PAL elsewhere.

Maybe we need "note to translators: ethnocentrise to suit"!

                      directory

I'm assuming the things with display titles are folders, the things
with file system paths are directories.

Freevo can be started automatically when the machine boots, using a
dedicated X server. Web, encoding, RSS, and recording servers can be
  launched at the same time.

(Does this really mean you can choose to run a recording server
without choosing to start Freevo's "display server"?)

Home theater (en_US) is the best low-jargon description (displaying
multimedia files is just mplayer). And the "offers [...] tools" is
a misunderstanding - it's built on them, but they're in the
dependencies.

"Classical audio" is Mozart; again, leave MPlayer to the
dependencies... wait, why is it a Depends if you can use Xine?

"Standalone" to me means "without other hardware plugged in".

Description: home theater framework - binaries
Freevo is a Personal Video Recorder system for saving television
input to disk and playing it back. It can be used either for a
dedicated PVR with a TV (plus remote) or on a regular desktop
computer using the monitor and keyboard.

You know, this would all be a lot simpler if we stopped pussyfooting
around and said "it's a DFSG-compliant TiVo!"

Insert Harvard comma.

(LIRC is no longer "Architecture: all" - will this take care of
itself?)

> Description: multimedia files display framework - Lirc control

LIRC is an initialism, and this is a PIN-numberism. This package is
basically a dependency package, but with a bit of setup logic in the
postinst. So: - LIRC support

> This package add lirc support for Freevo.
This package integrates Linux Infra-red Remote Control support for
   Freevo.

This package contains documentation for Freevo in HTML.

Obviously "files". Less obviously, browsable.
