I will do it. I am currently writing an XFCE applet to work as dialer 
application. It is written in Python, so I need PyXFCE use the xfce 
libraries.
I'd like to use as as Smartphone using XFCE as DE.
It show on the panel the signal and the registered network. And when you 
click on it it show a dialer to make and receive call.
In this way you don't need to keep always an application open on taskbar 
(as zhone) and you will be always able to receive a call.

I attached a sample image of the program. I hope is not a problem if I 
add an attachment.
