I've already thought that packaging a later svn snapshot is the first thing 
to try.

Unfortunately, quick look through svn log shows that again there are 
incompatible API changes, at lease in efreet:

This is from r38185 commit message.

Grr... Looks like to package newer snapshot while keeping debian quatily 
standards, we will have to audit svn history since the last snapshot was 
taken, and check for library inteerface changes. Fortunately tools like 
git-svn + gitk make rhis a bit easier, but still extra work on packagers
