Of course you're right (and not boring) but I was just too tired
after several oopses and reboots with ripping out the battery etc.

I never actively connected to any network (neither encrypted nor
otherwise), the oops happens earlier (and after it both ifconfig and
iwconfig just hang). Hm. But maybe I find something ...
