Well, before your mail I wrote README.Debian (which I supposed it was
the last change before uploading to main):

Is matchbox-panel the only exception so far? In this case, I would
consider this a "rare" problem and leave README.Debian like it is:
option 4 is the correct way IMHO, everyone can set it.
OTOH, if we already know other applications which does not behave
correctly with ~/.Xresources alone, then README.Debian must be changed
*before* uploading to main (something I would like to do ASAP, this is
the only showstopper so far).
