[pkg-fso-maint] shared library in binary-package?

as I don't really know what to make of rpath could you point me to some 
documentation on how to do such things? The essence I found about rpath is 
that it is told to be bad but sadly not how to set it.
Also during my search for reference cases I found that for example amarok 
2.1.1-4 in unstable (a KDE audio-player) also installs shared libraries 
(*.so.X - files) to user lib and simply overrides the lintian warnings.
There are no bugs reported against it concerning these overrides and the 
amarok-maintainers do this since at least etch (it was 
/usr/lib/libamarok.so.0* then).
Could this be an option too? As it would prevent the need to heavily patch 
fsousaged to move the library.
