probably some kind of notification should be shown, if the user
modified the file.

just add a "rm /etc/.../cfg" in postrm in the case of a purge?

half-installed would mean no symlink, so no config file. I guess
this is the same for debconf packages? I'm not sure what you mean
by limited disk space. I guess we have limited disk space on FR :)
