[Pkg-gambas-devel] Gambas packages on Debain outdated!!

Hello Debian,

Current Gambas3 package in the repository are a too old version of
Gambas 3.1.1. Current version is 3.4 and a lot has been added, fixed and
such.

And because of new features added Gambas 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 apps will run
in 3.4, but 3.4 will NOT run on 3.3, 3.2, 3.3. So within the 3 series a
higher subnumber will NOT run on a lower subnumber.

As a Gambas developer I am faced with the fact I can't distribute
Gambas3 applications on Debian as they are all Gambas 3.3 or up and
won't run on 3.1.1 (I think no Gambas developer even uses 3.1.1 anymore)

This is a bit of a disaster considering that for my Gambas2 applications
2/3 of downloads are Ubuntu based users and 1/3 Debain based users.
So I'm kind of loosing 1/3 of my audience here for Gambas3
applications!!

Could you please have a more recent version (3.4) of Gambas in the
repository. This would also benifit the Raspberry Pi users as Raspberry
Pi is willing to update its repository as soon as a newer version is
available in Debian.

And Gambas2 should also stay available, it can run on same system as
Gambas3 without any problems. This way Gambas2 written applications can
keep running without the need of a port to Gambas3.
Note: Gambas2 applications will only run with Gambas2 and Gambas3
application will only run Gambas3.

If I knew how to package and set up a Debian repository I would have
done so. So I hope I can count on Debian to get it's repository update.

Thanks you,
