I agree, ubuntu is one of the most used GNU/Linux distros, and that's a pity that there isn't any usable version of Teeworlds.
Moreover, even if we can download the archive from the website, it is not what we may expect from an almost up-to-date distribution.
So we may at first ask why they did not find useful to include the 0.5.1 version of Teeworlds, or at least the 0.5, and see if there is a way to change this.

Status in “teeworlds” source package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
The current version of Teeworlds is 0.5.1 http://teeworlds.com/?page=news&id=3242
But Ubuntu ships Teeworlds 0.4.3 in its repositories, which is obsolete (all servers are currently running version 0.5.x which is not compatible with older version), making Teeworld's installation from Ubuntu's repository TOTALLY useless.

It has been a long time since the 0.5's release (many time before the Ubuntu 9.04 release…), and no critical bug has been reported. Moreover: a bug-fix release has been release, making the 0.5.1 a very stable version.

Please update the Teeworlds version in the Ubuntu repository, since the old one makes no point anymore.

(PS: Why games should have their last version in the repositories : https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gaming/msg00037.html)
