This bug was fixed in the package spring - 0.82.5.1+dfsg1-1ubuntu1

  * debian/control: Replace (rather than conflict) spring-engine
    - spring-engine will be a dummy package (LP: #612905)

Unless I am missing something the spring engine appears packaged twice:
- Source Package: spring (0.80.5.2-2ubuntu1) [universe]
   http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/lucid/spring
   this package is also in debian at http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/spring
- Source Package: spring-engine (0.81.2-0ubuntu1) [universe]
   http://packages.ubuntu.com/source/lucid/spring-engine

One of the two source package should be dropped.
