I am not the original reporter but I had the same problem. I can't
reproduce it since upgrade to lucid.

Status in “openarena” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete

Bug description:
Binary package hint: openarena

This happens all the time in KDE and rarely in GNOME. After quitting openarena, I am stuck on a frozen quit screen. It is as if it cannot switch to the previous resolution. The only way I know to get rid of this is going to a VT and forcibly quitting the openarena process. Then when I go back to X I am stuck in low resolution.

I have the following video card:
