I've reported a bug about outdated and buggy PlayOnLinux packages in official Ubuntu repositories, see bug #699765
Could you see if PlayOnLinux installer hanging problem is fixed in latest PlayOnLinux version (3.8.8) and write a comment at bug #699765 if problem is fixed?

  PlayOnLinux installer always hangs

Status in “playonlinux” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  when I try to install any application using PlayOnLinux, the installer window always hangs - it become dimmed. after I force close it, the wine installer starts as expected.

this happens basically with any application I'm trying to install from within PlayOnLinux

my expectation would be that the window doesn't hang, just closes, and starts the wine installer.

this is on ubuntu 10.04 64 bit
