  civclient-gtk crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

Bug description:
  when I selected "Leave" to remain in freeciv and start a new game the
  interface frooze and would not accept mouse clicks or keystrokes.
  Eventually the program exited and I selected report bug.
