I'm not sure what else is required. Basically the EAXREVERB effect is
broken in current version, and the instructions to reproduce it are
present in the bug report.
If I want to release a package of (for example) quake2xp/dhewm3 I'll
have to include the new openal in the same PPA, or ask users to build it
themselves. That is at least for the next 4 months.
That page seems more targeted towards Ubuntu developers than users, as I
don't think I have required access to complete most of the tasks.
Have I missed something?

Title:
Please upgrade openal-soft to 1.14 for bugfixes
Status in “openal-soft” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
In OpenAL Soft 1.13 there are sound glitches when using the EAXREVERB
effect in Doom 3. And when using the underwater preset in quake2xp
(which also uses EAXREVERB) it reminded me the time I tried "cat
/dev/random > /dev/dsp" a long time ago.
In case you want to test:
- quake2xp (requires Quake 2): if you go underwater, serious sound corruption occurs
svn co https://quake2xp.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/quake2xp quake2xp
- my dhewm3 fork (requires Doom 3): periodic glitches
https://github.com/alepulver/dhewm3
I've just downloaded 1.14 from the official website and seems to solve
both problems (even without recompiling, just adding
LD_PRELOAD=/path/to/new/libopenal.so).
If possible, it would be nice to get an updated package.
