Since this bug affects Unity and Gnome sessions but not KDE sessions it is not a fault in Warzone itself.
Therefore I am changing the classification of the issue to Unity.

- Set Warzone to use full screen mode and optimum resolution for your

  Launch Warzone, choose Single Player > Start Skirmish Game
  
  Whilst you are choosing game preferences or when you click the checkbox
  to begin the game the program will freeze. The issue came sometimes by
  overcome by switching to a different VT and then switching back.
  
  I have been playing Warzone on Ubuntu for years using all versions up to
- the upstream 3.2.1 without any problems. This problem started with

  I have replicated this problem on a clean download of Ubuntu 16.10 using
