[Pkg-ganeti-devel] Ganeti in Wheezy

Hi all,

I took another look at the status of Ganeti in Wheezy.

We currently have Ganeti 2.5.1 with lots of KVM issues (as I usually
test only Xen when packaging…), but not only. The following Debian bugs
are trivial:

- http://bugs.debian.org/676930, which has been fixed in commits
2911f46c and 839642c2 (already committed on stable-2.5, but not
  released)
- http://bugs.debian.org/677674, which I just found the fix
- http://bugs.debian.org/624256, which is also
  http://code.google.com/p/ganeti/issues/detail?id=230, and has a fix
both in the Debian bugtracker (but that seems a somewhat bad fix), and
in our tracker (which is better, but the author hasn't signed the CLA)

The actual big issue with KVM, namely the disk separator ':', is not
actually filled in Debian, so I can't yet request a freeze exception for
it :) I've just filled http://bugs.debian.org/682333 for it, and there
the proposed fix is to just change the separator and live with the fact
that VMs will have to be rebooted when upgrading from squeeze to
wheezy.

So, the plan is:

- ensure that all upstream bugs are fixed upstream (mainly issue 230;
  I'll wait a few days and )
so that we can simply cherry-pick the upstream versions
- fix #677674
- change the disk separator for #682333
- request freeze exception

The only Debian bugs that will remain open after this will be #599445,
which is fixed in 2.6 only, #650664 (upstream, not fixed yet), and
#611724, which is most likely unreproducible.

I'll email debian-release now, but the actual packaging and everything
will only be ready by next weekend, since we need to first sort things
upstream.

Thoughts?

iustin
